                                       ~~~BED SORES~~~
ARE YOUR LOVED ONE IS A  VICTIM OF ELDER ABUSE...
~~~~DEFINITION~~~

Bedsores also known as pressure ulcers, are localized injuries to the skin and/or underlying tissue that usually occur over a bony prominence as a result of pressure and/or friction
Although often prevented and treatable if detected early, pressure ulcers can be very difficult to prevent in elders

~~~CLASSIFICATION OF BEDSORES~~~
Stage I:
         The area may be painful, firm, soft, warmer or cooler as compared to adjacent tissue. Stage I may be difficult to detect in individuals with dark skin tones.
Stage II:
         Partial thickness loss of dermis presenting as a shallow open ulcer with a red pink wound bed, without slough. Presents as a shiny or dry shallow ulcer.
Stage III:
         Full thickness tissue loss. Subcutaneous fat may be visible but bone, tendon or muscle are not exposed. Slough may be present.
Stage IV:
         Full thickness tissue loss with exposed bone, tendon or muscle. Slough may be present on some parts of the wound bed.
~~~~EFFECTS OF BEDSORES ~~~

Necrotizing fasciitis
        An infection that destroys the layers of tissue that surrounds the muscles. Without treatment, death can occur in as little as 12 to 24 hours.

Amputation
        When left untreated bedsores will continue to fester and destroy live tissue. If left unchecked long enough it will manifest in the bone. This leads to the need to amputate a limb

Sepsis
Sepsis occurs when bacteria from an infection enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body that can cause shock and organ failure.

Cancer
        This is usually an aggressive carcinoma affecting the skin's squamous cells. It often can spread to the lymph nodes by the time it's diagnosed

~~~~HOW TO CURE BEDSORES ~~~
Debridement :
Removal of  dead cell tissues  using scalpel
Surgery :
repair using the a pad of muscle, skin or other tissues
Dressing  :
protect wound and speed healing
But surely this problem can be curb for all if these   preventive measures are taken!? Not exactly! Elderly people are not included!  Only a handful of EARLY preventive measures such as redistributing pressure by turning the elders regularly and having an adequate yet nutritious diet represents as competent steps.
~~~~OUR BIG IDEA~~~

GEL MATTRESS + JUKUSUI-KUN = EVOLUTION MATTRESS

GEL MATTRESS:

Disperse pressure away from protrusions via alternating pressure. Most systems utilize air chambers.

JUKUSUI-KUN :

cuddly bear-shaped pillow that detect someone’s snore and gently coaxes him/her to move by tickling their face. A light tickle will cause the person to turn without waking him/her up

Modification : add a timer  (to tickle elderly every 2 hours)

NO MORE DOUBTS PEOPLE!

EVOLUTION MATTRESS IS :
· Effective
· Economic
· Comfortable
· Washable
